Installing car speakers are easy and need not be expensive if you know how. You will have to sweat a bit, but that’s fine if you are saving, right?
Each car presents a different type of set-up and it varies on the factory speaker’s locations, the mounting depth and height, and the vehicle’s factory wiring. Always remember that almost vehicle’s wires are straightforward. All you might need is a screwdriver to get the job done, but there are always those installations that can be more involved, especially if you will be installing component speakers.
Bring the toolbox in and the following tools for convenience: a variety of screwdrivers (because you’ll never know what you’ll meet), drills, allen wrenches, socket wrench set, wire cutter or stripper tool, soldering iron and solders, crimpling toll and few connectors, panel removal tool, retaining clip remover, file, electric tape, and an exacto knife.
Take note that cars differ and issues may arise here and there that may not be really the same as will be discussed.
Make sure that the speakers you will be purchasing are of course, in good condition, and will fit your car. The speakers should fit the available space in your car, and the tweeters shouldn’t interfere with the grilles.
Remove the cover panel and the old car speakers carefully, watch out for those clips that are hanging here and there. Make sure that you replace the damping material before dropping the new speakers into the speaker cavity. Screw it tightly through the damping material you have placed to the metal of the door. Grab the positive wire into the positive opening at the back of the speaker, and the negative wire to the negative opening. Plug the other ends both the positive and the negative wires into the corresponding inputs on the back of your main unit (player).
Detach the factory grilles on the rear deck and remove the old speakers. From there, just like what you did before, drop the new speakers into the openings and plug the wires, positive for positive and negative for negative and you’re ready to go.
To finalize, eliminate all excess wirings that are hanging and are exposed by packing it with electrical tapes. Return the grilles over the speakers in the rear deck. Some grilles can be bought to put more style in your car to match the new speakers.
